The South Asia Institute is pleased to announce that Dr. Rakesh Ranjan is one of the recipients of the Lenfest Distinguished Faculty Award for 2022-23. Rakesh Ranjan is Senior Lecturer and Hindi-Urdu Language Coordinator, Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies (MESAAS). Dr. Ranjan has been teaching Hindi at Columbia since 2008, and had taught previously at the Hindi Language Program, American Institute of Indian Studies (1994-1998) and Emory University (1999-2008).
Within the Arts and Sciences, Columbia recognizes the excellence of our faculty – as teachers, scholars, and mentors within and outside the classroom – through the Lenfest Distinguished Columbia Faculty Award. Established in 2005 by a gift from late University Trustee Gerry Lenfest, awardees are nominated by students and faculty with final selections by the Executive Committee of Arts and Sciences.
